BAM!!! Dularge Spring Trout Run Begins!

3 Attachment(s)
Today was the day we have been waiting for in regards to the spring speckled trout run! The people that get paid to predict weather have been consistently wrong the past few days and today was no different. The radar looked good at 4:30 this morning and the crew was amped to go fishing. I ran a boat for Capt. Marty's 3 boat charter group and we were all prepared for a day of shrimp soaking. With fresh bait we rolled out in the fog but quickly realized the conditions in front of us were perfect trout conditions! The lakes were slick calm and the water was gorgeous! First stop in crystal clean water put 7 trout on ice and the switch turned off. Heard some radio chatter among the crew and off we went. Pulled up to an oyster reef and the guys were slinging in trout almost every cast. This hot action lasted until we had 50 fish in the box. The bite slowed down and we were off to spot number 3. I was going to fish another reef when I heard gulls laughing. In the distance I could see them crashing on shrimp, which was a welcomed sight!! Without hesitation I eased up and got a closer look. Yep, definitely shrimp popping! It was on everycast and my crew was smashing the trout again! This is what we've been waiting for after a rather dismal March. The guys had the time of their lives catching more fish than the ever have in their life! Nearly 300 trout hit the tables today between 3 boats! It's on! Come get it! 225-776-9820Attachment 65868Attachment 65869Attachment 65870

What a thing to say on another mans report.

BassYakR 04-07-2014 08:06 AM

its just an observation man...

BuckingFastard 04-07-2014 08:18 AM

it is a lot of fish but they honestly are small. seems like they are always small from around that area. again this is purely observational... impressive numbers for sure.

southern151 04-07-2014 08:21 AM

That sure beats anything I caught this weekend! Way to get on em!

BassYakR 04-07-2014 08:23 AM

I wasn't bashing the guy! THey caught a lot of fish congrats...

bayouchub 04-07-2014 08:38 AM

No reason to call out the size of the guys fish. Would you have caught bigger trout out of dularge yesterday?

BassYakR 04-07-2014 08:50 AM

couldn't tell you.... bc I didn't go... nor have I ever been to dularge... was just posting an observation. sorry if you didn't like my post...

keakar 04-07-2014 08:51 AM

so what if they were school trout? that's not the point of the post, the point is the specks showed up in large numbers and those school trout will fatten up quickly in just a week or two.

great trip guys and thanks for the good news that the spring migration is starting

Capt. Marty LaCoste 04-07-2014 10:38 AM

12-17 inch trout. I've never considered a legal trout too small, and prefer eating a 12 inch trout over a bigger trout anyday of the week. Thin and crispy is my favorite. Great job Capt Rob putting the guys on a trip of a lifetime. They had a blast and have never experienced such a incredible bite ever before.

When is the last time you ever spread 100 trout of any size across the deck of your boat ( if you own one) LOL

BassYakR 04-07-2014 11:42 AM

cant have 100 trout on the deck of a boat over here... but theres been plenty of limits on the deck if you must know. but myself id rather 3 big bites than a bunch of small fish.

Not a problem just keep your personal comment on another persons fishing report to yourself.
