Thanks for your nice words Bluechip and Ratdog. Many lessons were learned from this experience. Mother Nature has her ways that we don't always understand.

As a result of this experience our daughter and her family are ordering some Mallard eggs to hatch in an incubator and raise. :)

Don't forget the brooder box. Raised some geese one time that was an experience
