Cainon Benoit's crew joined me this morning to catch their first specks and reds. With the trout bite being hit and miss lately we left out at daybreak searching for the yellowmouths. First stop was a reef and Cainon had the hot hand but we lost just as many trying to flip them into the boat as we caught. Seemed to be a little bit of a theme but the trout were very acrobatic trying to spit our Shrimp Creole Matrix all day and worked holes in their mouths by the time they got to the Bluewave. Being Saturday all good things come to an end due to boat traffic. We worked over Lake Mechant real good. With the wind pumping and 22 trout and a couple reds in the box we headed to protected waters to soak some shrimp. They weren't disappointed as they got to experience it all. The puppy drum were thick and a red and a couple sheepshead even found there way into the K2. Sure was cool to watch these newbies in action and how much they enjoyed reeling in specks, reds, drum, and sheepshead. Thanks Capt. Marty for setting up the trip.
