Any golfers in here?

I played my first round of golf in nearly 6 years today with a couple of my bosses. Now my wrist is freaking killing me and slightly swollen. It's the left wrist on the pinky side. Anybody ever have this happend? Any treatment advice? I would like to play a little more often, but not if this is going to be a constant annoyance afterwards. Not to mention the embarrassment when the 27 yr old is injured and the old farts are still going strong.

You right or left handed? How big of divots were you taking?

Right handed. I chopped a couple of balls, but mostly clean swings. I was slicing ridiculously bad though. The last 2 holes I couldn't even finish.

I get the same pain, but no swelling after I don't follow through on a few shots.

Typically happens if you are late to rotate your wrist. Sucks. Lower back pain is common too.

Does it feel like muscle or the joint itself

Quit playing golf.

When you swing a golf club you will use your wrist and back more than you think. On the start of the swing and to stop the swing. When i was younger i played golf with my uncle and he was in his late 60s or maybe early 70s. He would take a good easy swing and always down the middle but a drive was maybe 150-170 yards, well i would always try to crush the ball and did most of the time but it hardly ever went down the middle or exactly where it was supposed to go. I had sore wrist after playing till i started swinging to get a straight 200-225 yard drive. I could play a 510 yard par 5 and hit the ball 680 yards to get to the pin. I always got my money's worth. He usually shot in the high 70's and i was in the low 90's. I sold my clubs after he passed. Great memories....

A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.

:rotfl:... When I stopped playing years ago, I asked myself "Why would you waste a perfectly good day to chase a ball through a field?" but I actually had a good time. I would have had more fun had I played better though.

I find no flaw in this argument.

How about a compromise????

Hit your tee shot down the middle of the fairway and then see it you can hit the ball from 230 yards with the rifle. If you do, then you make par and move on to the next hole. :)

You might want to carry a bullet proof vest in case you hear " four!!!":rotfl:

Evidently the guys that dont like golf suck at it! LOL

Could be many things from existing injury from years back or just the sign of using part of the body you havent used in a very long time. Could be genetics. Who knows.

Everyone just inst going to get up and run a marathon....you need to slowly get back into "golf" shape. (insert puns here)

I would ice / heat / ice/heat and stretch.

How did it feel the next day?

I hadn't played golf in years and was decent but never very good. A few months ago I started going to the range a few times a week. Started hitting good and told myself I was going to go to the range one more time before I took my talents to the links. I went to the range by myself and couldn't hit a good shot to save my life. I was so frustrated, I haven't been back since. I don't have the patience for it.
