Congrats. My advice would be to try and get into an apprenticeship program at one of the plants and couple years you will break out as a journeymen and will be a hot commodity and pretty much go where u want.

What plants offer an apprenticeship program? I thought PPG was the only one doing that?

Congrats! It's a great feeling ain't it? The only bad thing is no more "summer's here" feeling. It's just non-stop work. :(

Axiall. Not sure what others. I think they are the only ones.

Several of the other facilities have a "training program" instead of a state certified apprenticeship. They do not like messing with all the paper work.

With that said..... A degree in IE will meet the requirements for an apprenticeship or training program.

Now, get back to work! Never went to college and, don't remember much about being in HIGH school so, "Summer's here" is something I've never really experienced.

My hat is off to all of you who endured the college atmosphere. I never had the discipline to do it when I was of age to be there.

I remember my dad telling me "welcome to the first day of the rest of your life"...... Was not sure what he meant at the time but I quickly learned lol.

To the best of my knowledge they are the only one.

Right now is a great time to be finishing school. With all the work going on around here now is probably the easiest time to get on permanent with a degree and minimal experience.

I never really had the summers here feeling either lol. Always worked I didn't have to but I enjoy it. I'm working on a couple different jobs at the moment so hopefully something works out
