Guide question
 

How does that work when you hire a guide but you fish out of your own boat? Is this an option to go with or is this done on rare occasions?

I know its done offshore fairly regularly, not sure about inland though.

People do it around Dularge and Cocodrie. I also know people don't do it around Venice other than that I'm not really sure

Where were you interested in fishing? That information might help others be more able to help you.

Contact capt Travis Miller out of dularge. Millertime charters I think.

If I was a guide, I'd charge maybe 50 bucks less to fish on someone else's rig and have the sport pay all fuel, if I did it at all. Not knowing a boat, not having the equipment, transporting necessary equipment and trying to put people on fish would weigh on me.

Well if its offshore the hired Capt is providing some spots and usually teaches a lot of rigging and has a lot of deckhand responsibilities. With inshore its a lot less demanding. If a normal day on the guides boat is 600 I would expect to pay the guide around 200 to work on mine.

I think it just depends on what you are asking for. If you are asking for support in learning to navigate an area and get in and out safely that is one thing. If you are looking to save money on a fishing trip that's something entirely different. Just keep asking around and tell them specifically what you want. I'd assume they'd give you some break for fuel....but what is their information worth... it's taken them years and years and probably a costly miss-hap or 2 to learn what they learned...

does it in Dularge for around half of what he charges in his boat.

Either way you go. Sound like you will be paying the almost same thing. Get a guide 550+ for me and my 2 boys.

If I had to fuel up my boat that 180 plus gas in vehicle 70 plus bait etc. That's at least 250. Plus a guide charge.

In dularge you pay the guide fee , plus gas in thier boat

maybe one day I'll get a guide. But as of now I Just can't convince myself to pay a for guide. When I have my own sled.

Just get to the Marina really early and follow them... Don't forget to find out what VHF channel they're using. 😏

It's not that serious. I do pretty good on my own. I just have a few friend that want to go with a guide.

I know what you mean,but you will learn years worth of info with one trip with a good guide.

the few times i've went with a guide i had a blast and my kids caught fish. i learned alot and had alot more fish than most people at the dock.
