Ugh! Help!
I went out to Lake Dauterive this past weekend and the water was LOW. Got stuck a couple times, due to not being familiar with the area. First two times I was able to get my 175 Merc Black Max pissing again. Third time no luck. Got off the water, went home and ran a weed-eater line through the pisser tube and saw mud on the tip. Hooked up the earmuffs, and nothing. Tried blowing it out with a compressor, nothing.
Is it time to remove the lower unit and replace the water pump? Also, this may seem like a stupid question but is the water pump unit just replacing the impeller, metal and rubber gaskets in the lower unit? Thanks in advance! |

Brought the boat to my brother-in-law's yesterday. Pulled the pissing plug, and started her up. Took about 30 seconds and she started pissing. *Shakes my head* Oh well, at least it wasn't something serious!

I recommend that you take the thermostat out and check it for trash.
I also recommend that while you have it out........put it in a pot with some water and boil it on the stove for a minute. This will open the "valve" [valve opens at about 190 F] and allows any trash caught there to come free. |
