Port Aransas question
 

I have a friend who went to work down in Port Aransas. He said he has an extra room and a boat slip i could keep my boat in. I am going to try to drag the boat doen there in a few weeks. Looking on some info for offshore and inshore fishing. Looks like it gets deep pretty quick in the gulf how far out till dolphin snappers and such? Is the fishing in aransas bay good for trout and reds?

the bays are great for reds and trout, but you'll need a pretty skinny runnin boat. don't know much about offshore, but hang around the offshore boat docks for awhile and pick up some local info. pretty big offshore recreational fishing business there.

If you've ever fished grand isle, packery channel is just like Caminada Pass. It's a good place to start....also there are several wrecks off Port A. here is a link to some coordinates....I've fished one of those Liberty Ships for sure...don't remember which one tho.

You're better off going out of the Port A jetties, no need to run to packery channel. I've fished offshore down there for years, if you need someone to tag along and show you some spots, let me know.

I've fished out of Port A on a few guided trips. As I recall there is not a lot of inshore , protected fishing and the offshore fishing was done around shrimp boats and a few wrecks. There are very few oil rigs. We would find shrimp boats and when they would empty their nets, all kiinds of fish would come up, but it did not last long. Other than that we fished wrecks, rocks and manmade reefs.
