Texas Marine

I bought a boat from these guys almost a year ago. Since the purchase the after service has been horrible. They have been working on warranty defect for over a year I mean small items like seats and letters. Then yesterday I brought the boat in to finally get this stuff fixed and I am informed that my boat is out warranty cause I was supposed to get a 20 hr first service the 50 hrs then 100. I explained that this was not what I was told when I bought it only 20 and 100. She said I should have read manual so I did and guess what 20 and 100 it says. So I called back and told her she says she never said that but I needed to do a service now or loose my warranty for triple what everyone else chArges. This has not been the only issue. Needless to say never again.

How can not having engine serviced affect the hull warranty?

1910 nautic star 115 Yamaha

fishwater 05-28-2014 09:55 PM

10 Hr break in and 100 Hr service isn't even reported to Yamaha so they are full of ****. We don't contact Yamaha at our shop unless it is warrenty work.

Just buy local. May be a bit higher price but well worth the service close to home.

Cripley 05-28-2014 10:26 PM

I wanted to buy local but they were waiting on shipment of boats and I was impatient lesson learned Jerry or lake area will get my business for the next one

You can have the 100hr service performed at any authorized Yamaha dealer. You are not obligated to use TX Marine for that.

Or he could have done the maintenance his self, how would they know?

Cripley 05-29-2014 11:20 AM

yigodiver 05-29-2014 02:24 PM

call the brand representative and explain the situation and ask to have your warranty transferred to another dealership that you can trust and will properly fix your issues. many dealers don't want to honor labor warranty on motors they don't sell but the brand representative for your area can get them to go along with doing it because they don't want the brand to get a bad reputation just because of one unscrupulous dealer.

heck just call jerrys and explain the situation and ask if they will honor the warranties on it, they might just say ok no problem.

also the boat has its own separate warranty and nothing you do or don't do to the motor can effect it. same goes for motor, nothing you do to the boat short of hitting something can effect the motor warranty. they are scammers and just trying to make you go somewhere else so they don't have to lose money dealing with the problems they sold you.

I could be wrong but the warranty requires it be done by the dealer, working on your own motor or a non-dealership shop working on it voids all warranty
