Shrimp question

I don't shy away from silly questions, so here is my latest edition. I'm headed near Holly Beach early next week. My main goal is to rifle in a few beers and enjoy time off work, but I'll absolutely be getting a line wet. I'll also have the cast net handy to grab some bait, and that brings me to my latest basic question. Can you catch shrimp wading on Holly Beach? Would a floating spotlight help? If you can't do it now, is there a time of year when you can?

Sure you can catch shrimp along the beach. Mostly in late summer early fall. I've filled a 48qt full of shrimp one time when I was there at the right time. There were so many they were poking me in the leg and jumping all over the top of the water while i was wading for trout. Couldn't stand it so I went grab the cast net.

If the water is clean you can also see the schools of pogies. That's good trout bait also.
