Where can I buy croaker?

Where can I get live croaker on Saturday morning? I'm gonna be headin south through lake charles to Holly beach. Would like to not go off path too far if I don't have to. Thanks!

Have to cast net for them

Cripley 06-05-2014 08:56 PM

Hit some canals off the side on the way

ChaseB1991 06-05-2014 09:15 PM

Dang really? Okay thanks, better go invest in one I guess. Can't believe nobody sells it around here

Cajun Fastmart in Carlyss has cast nets and you'll be driving right by there.

i think fastmart still has the lead nets too. might be wrong. youll easily be able to cast net for them in the canals.

Can't i just use a Walmart cast net? I've thrown some friends nets, so I know how to do it but don't know much about it. I've never really fished with bait so this is all new to me. I can't get a hold of any bait shops really. Either the phone numbers are old or they don't answer. Few that I did talk to don't sell croaker.

Can y'all elaborate on throwing in canals? Anything I should look for? Depth of water? Clarity? Size of canal?

Look for the ripples while your driving down 27

Think I may go this weekend also but I prefer constance beach ... how ever u spell it good crabbing hole right on the beach that comes outta the marsh that cuts thru to the gulf

catching_hale 06-06-2014 09:14 AM

Oh and don't cast net in the reserve it's outlawed except in a boat

catching_hale 06-06-2014 09:16 AM

May be able to catch some Croker off the beach also depending on the surf... just gotta choke up on your net a lil...
