Have not used them much for trout yet but the black chartruse is a redfish killer.

Cripley 06-22-2014 04:38 PM

Been successful on all species with them but yes trout LOVE THEM

SuperDave 06-22-2014 06:51 PM

I use them. Don't seem to hold up very well at all but they work wonderfully.

I've been using them for about a year now and they have been doing a great job

What kind of Jig head you using if you use yellowmouth they last great

The Matrix Shad has become softer and softer over the last 2 years. Which means they we have better action on the upside, but on the downside sometimes one trout one fish they are done, especially in summer temps we have. And not to mention quicker the bait tears up the more people we have to buy. I have found jig heads with the spike instead of the rings work better as far as holding the bait on after trout bites.

Tried them once and like spec said, they only good for getting one or two lunkers in someone's face then have to trash it.

I buy in bulk from Chags. They look just like Golden eye JH from matrix/vortex shad. I use them with H&H cockahoes and deadly Dudley's and they outlast the matrix shads 10-1 easy.

I've got about 180+ matrix shads so it's not a huge deal. I only buy them I bulk when I get a good deal. They have EXCELLENT action.

How much are the YM hi heads each? I remember them being more than what I wanted to pay I believe.

4.99 for small pack 20 for large but worth it for the bait you save gulp lasted me a limit of reds with a yellowmouth jigs caught limit of trout on two matrix shad

AubreyLaHaye458 06-22-2014 09:17 PM

I caught a limit of trout today on a Yellamouth jigheads and two lil johns. If the bait would tear I'd just spin it around and rehook it. The only one I lost got taken by a fish.

Yep I just adjust it and it keeps rolling worth the money to me cause a good action bait will be soft so good jig head makes difference

SuperDave 06-22-2014 09:33 PM

How many come in a large pack?

Bdub 06-22-2014 09:43 PM

Matrix and vortex are also pretty well priced, at the moment academy in lake charles has them on sale for pretty cheap look at the end of the rod aisle. I'm just happy they carry them around here now, I would have to get my family to pick them up for me in slidell.

Academy has them for like 3.49 or so on sale. Lake Charles Tackle carries it too which is where I prefer to buy.

I thought they held up pretty good, especially with the action they put out. 10-15 fish on a bait is plenty for me. Yellowmouth jigheads is what I use if curious... I actually need to order some more.

Don't know the rules, but you can find the entire Matrix Shad brand here: www.legauxluresoutlet.com
