Cameron to Holly Beach

The sargassum was pretty bad, making it difficult to fish. The beach by the rocks was covered with the rotting stuff, the smell adding insult to injury. Didn't even unload my yak. They had, however, cleaned up most of the beach by the camps.

Decided to head east to the Cameron jetties. Sargassum was bad there too, but the water was not as muddy. Launched the yak and started heading south along the jetties, jigging with LSU plastic cocahoes. Actually hooked a croaker but I had a few other bites before the lightning/thunder began. The wind picked up and was blowing out of the North. Was loading my yak when it started raining.

I was hoping that I could do some night fishing with the Full Moon; but I had to be out of there by 10 pm and it was still raining and overcast when I left around 8 pm so I headed home.

Pictures are at Holly Beach.

That sucks. I have been waiting and waiting for the dang seaweed to stop. Havent been able to surf fish in a month and a half. Im ready to go.
Hate that the conditions made for a rough and shortened trip for you.

Thanks for the report.

Thanks for all the pictures and report.

With all the mostly calm winds for the past week++ I have been hoping the beach water might start getting better. I guess one day of high south winds = several days of light winds to get back to "not too bad" water conditions.

We need some North windsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

Thanks for the report.

Like duckman, I am itching to hit the surf, but I don't care to stand ankle deep in rotting seaweed dang it.

Looks like the north wind you were wishing for is here Gerald. But not for long it seems. I'm thinking of taking the yak to the Cypremort Point area tomorrow afternoon to target flounder.

Went offshore for trout on Saturday, when we had to run in to Game Warden camp to hide from storm. Sitting there with 5 other boats waiting on storm to pass, saw a good looking spot for a flounder. Made two cast and pulled in a nice flounder.

Didn't get to go today. The point and beyond, especially Marsh Island, holds plenty of flounder. Even in the Quintana I've caught some big flatties.
