Black Friday Sale on Trout in Lake Borgne

Hit the lake early this morning to avoid the rush of people looking for a great deal. I fished the shoreline of Lake Borgne from the mouth of the East Pearl through Pole Cat Bend. It was 33 degrees when I launched, but the wind died down as the sun came up and the temperature quickly rose to a nice 55 degrees by 0830. The water was clear and there was plenty of bait running about 50 yards from the shoreline. I found the trout over a oyster bed in about four feet of water. It looks like the cold weather has not pushed them into the holes in the marsh just yet. The small trout were caught on molting color Gulp shrimp and glow DOAs fished about 18 inches under a popping cork. The larger ones were caught dragging the bottom with a natural colored stink shrimp (don't know the name, but they are slimey and last longer than Gulp) on a 3/8 ounce head.
Total count: 24 trout with a couple over 18 inches. I missed out on one, but I had more than enough to eat. The neighbors will be thankful not to eat leftovers again tonight.
I caught 17 trout, one 24 inch red and a flounder on Thanksgiving and made it home for breakfast.
I recommend trolling the shoreline about 150 yards out casting towards shore in about 4 feet of water. The oyster bed is critcal, 50 feet off of it and nothing.
