Find it strange to be able to change fees in middle of a license year.

I was thinking the same thing. Unless they issue some sort of stamp possibly?

Man, I bought my license fair and square at the original price. If they think I'm going to pay them another $7.50 after the fact, well they got another thing coming. The regs don't say you have to have a "$15 saltwater fishing license" to fish saltwater; it says you have to have a "saltwater fishing license" to fish saltwater.

The LDWF release says the LA Creel was not recognized by federal officials as MRIP compatible, and funding was pulled. Why didn't they just make the damn thing compatible? Why does our state consistently insist on not conforming? First the driver's licenses, now this. Bone heads man.

Hopefully they don't enact this this year. Thank YOUR CCA for pushing this issue.

Already will be. Its effective August 1.

marshrunner757 07-17-2014 09:31 AM

Guess we'll see what they do. It will piss me off to buy an additional license but we have no choice. I promise they will be checking hard come august 1

I wouldn't give them more then a month or two before they decide to bump up the cost of lifetime licenses as well so you better get em fast before they go up as well.

its even more cost effective to get a lifetime license now.

got mine back in 1998

marshrunner757 07-17-2014 09:35 AM

Why haven't they raised out of state?

We may be grandfathered in for this year. Maybe it will be for any new licenses bought from August 1 on.

marshrunner757 07-17-2014 10:11 AM

That would be a possibility also.

The Lifetime Fishing was never really a very good deal IMHO... $300 for something you are only spending $15/year on takes a while to get your money back.

On the other hand, The Lifetime Hunting is a great deal if you get Big Game, Bowhunting, Muzzleloader, WMA stamp, State Duck Stamp, Turkey Stamp... I was spending $60/year... my ROI was pretty good on that one.

I opted for the Combo just so I don't have to remember to buy my fishing license on July 1st every year.

I also purchased the $200 Lifetime COMBO for my children before they turn 5... Best present I could ever get them.

In Summary, I don't think they will increase the Lifetime Fishing License... It's now on par with the hunting.

Looks like I'll be getting my lifetime combo license. I've bought a bow and a .35 whelen since last season and plus I fish. Won't be long they'll be raising the cost of it all I'm sure.

depends how old you are, if you are 30 years old and fish every year your looking at 35 more years of buying a $15 license so assuming the price never goes up during that time your going to spend $450 during that time frame and that's if the price never goes up so in my book a 33% savings is worth it and if they raise the price during that time your going to be near 50% savings. just do the math.

plus now they even make you buy a seniors license so you no longer get to fish free after age 65 so that adds even more to the cost and increases your savings.

now if you are 50 or 60 years old the savings isn't that great but its still something worth doing the math on.

when I got my license back in 1998 i think it was $11 for a combo license fresh and salt

I can agree that there are some savings... my point was that it takes a LONG time to get your money back on just the lifetime fishing license so it's not quite as much of an enticement.

Also, if you really want to do math, at age 60 you can buy a $5 sportsmans license which covers everything... or at age 60 you can buy a lifetime combo license for $50 ;)
