Check your trailer wheel bearings!
 

Just a heads up guys. Remember to check your trailer wheel bearings regularly. I had mine checked yesterday before I made the haul to Big Lake today and ended up having to replace all of them.

do it when the old lady is on the warpath so you got an excuse to get out of the house and hopefully not have to listen to it

Yeah I seriously dodged one there.

After you launched the boat and parked the trailer, always take a minute and walk around the trailer and look over the tires at the seal side and if you see grease on the spindle, you been notified that things aren't right or crawl under the trailer at your house and check to see if any grease is leaking.

Or just roll with it and be stuck on the side of the road.;)

Also if you get to a launch and your hubs are too warm then launching in water that is cooler than the hubs will cause the inner seal to contract and water gets inside. If you can wait for then to cool then this will not occur. Lots of people over grease and damage the seals and blows out the back seal. The tires should be taken of each year so the lug nuts don't seize and check bearings as well.

Some trailers with disc brakes require you to pull the calipers off to remove the inner bearings.
Last Tuesday while up at my neighbors camp I started to install the new tires his Dad had bought for their aluminum boat. I took the hub and spun it and one was grinding loud and when I pulled the hub the roller bearings fell apart. It had been bad for some time with gritty grease/water mix. The boat ramp is 3 blocks away from the camp.
