Brought over my brother in law and pops for a little action. Got on the water around 8 and headed to old settlement landed the only trout we would see until 3 when we came back. Literally hit mid lake, west cove reef, grand weirs comm point and back to old. Never saw one red and only boxed 4 trout.

Was the bite real early?

Nice trout.

I have those days and am convinced someone tore them up at one of those spots - I was just early or late. I'm always torn on moving or staying, it could go either way if you time the water movement wrong up/down the system

Bite was and has been early.
Fish closer to deeper water.

Thanks for the advice guys. I was left scratching my head for sure. Especially not randomly running into a redfish at a couple of the usual haunts.

I have found it varying tides swinging there has been a early bit. It we hit em Thursday hit bite at 9:30 am. Really look at tides before u go out.

What's the best tides for catching fish?

dmtfish 08-03-2014 10:40 AM

We hit em in the afternoon day before yesterday... Same conditions yest afternoon with strong outgoing tide and struggled until 5pm

Clampy 08-03-2014 12:31 PM

If you are around deep water or a place with a lot if current the best tide is when it's slower. Ideally right at they switch. Imo

Huh?

If the tide is very hard move away from the channel. If it's weaker fish in the channel cuts.
