Beretta A400 help

2 Attachment(s)
Gun is on it's second season

Hangs up with 2 2/4" and 3"

The end of last year it started hanging and a gunsmith said the factory grease could be the cause and cleaned it. Problem continues.

Did anyone have this problem or know what might be the cause?

FF_T_Warren 09-29-2014 11:37 AM

never had a single issue. Im with bdub. change shells and see what happens

simplepeddler 09-29-2014 11:39 AM

make sure that gas ring is clean as well...........it's often missed............

Bdub 09-29-2014 11:40 AM

The Rio's I was shooting were very dirty, and I also shot winchesters before that...both were dirty shells, I would get leftover powder in my eyes sometimes...Moved to remingtons and have had 0 issues..

gun is definitely broken... I'll give you $50 for it right now:smokin:

Try changing shells, Estates are some inexpensive good shells. Ive never liked those xperts

I had the same problem. Called beretta customer service and it got sent back to beretta. They changed a few parts and sent it back to me free of charge. Have used it twice since i got i back no issues so far.

Winshester for the most part. We will see that changing shells does.

Its my dads gun and hes faithful to winchester but we shall see.

For the price of that gun it should be able to shoot paper shells. High dollar shotguns shouldn't require high dollar shells.

I have an extrema 2 and never had any issues with ejecting. I have shot most brands out there but mostly shoot federals. It should eject all brands no problem. I would contact Beretta before changing shells and have them check it out

Your gun should shoot any shell that you decide to shoot. Call Beretta and send it back to them, they will fix the gun. You will need a back up, it takes a while to get a gun back!

Agreed

I would change gunsmiths and find someone local to do the work before sending it to the mfg forever. Mine did the same thing, I changed the ORings myself and it shoots perfectly now.

Rings and ports should be changed and cleaned as often as possible - you should be able to take it down and take care of those items easily. You can have enough pressure to sling the bolt and grab a new shell, just not enough to sling it far enough back to fully eject the spent casing. Trash in a port or a damaged, missing, or worn out ring will cause this.

When you Beretta owners first bought your a400 did you have cycling issues with light loads? I just picked up an a400 in optifade and took it to the range over the weekend for the breakin. After a good cleaning of the packing grease I started out shooting some Winchester 2 3/4" 1 1/8oz loads. I shot 2 boxes and had maybe 3 non cycles. The bolt would would eject the first round but wouldn't pickup the second. the bolt would be shut with a round waiting. I then (because it was all I had at the time) shot 3 boxes of rio 1oz 2 3/4" rounds and had probably 7-8 non cycles just like the Winchesters.

Finally after chatting with the Beretta dealer I bough 4 boxes of rio 2 3/4" 1 1/4oz high brass loads. Shot all four boxes and didn't have a single misfire but I wouldn't expect to either.

After shooting roughly 200 rounds in about a 4 hour period my shoulder was no more sore then shooting a box or two of 20 gauge dove loads out of my 870 pump.

certainly easier on the shoulder then my SBEII was but I was kinda concerned about the inconsistent cycling on the light loads. Does it just need to be worked out some more?

nick, nick, nick....better get that 870 out....it's probably because you using that thing as a paddle bah. i know how you hunt. haha, just kiddin.

bgizzle 09-29-2014 02:54 PM

Check the O ring in the forearm. Don't clean it with gun oil, clean it with got soap and water. With Gas operated guns, gun oil just wads up powder and could make it tough if u use it a lot. I use hot soap n water then dry it off and just spray a very light coat of oil

870 prefers to be abused and shoots better when used as a paddle.

You could try polishing the top of the receiver with flitz or something similar, we found that worked. It's still under warranty, so bringing it back to the dealer is an option.

I normally go to Mike but this time I took it to Smiths in Carencro because it's closer. He said the part below was the culprit. He is also an expert on Benjamin pellet guns, if anyone needs some work some on one he's your guy.
