How much better are the flocked decoys?

I buy into them. They have their benifits on sunny mornings. They don't put off the glare others do. To say they are essential to kill birds is a stretch though. If your where the birds want to be, you can call, and you know how to stay hidden. Your fine....

After hunting with them I would question a spread without them. Their action is awesome too

There's no doubt they are a better looking more realistic decoy. I hunt with both. To answer his question if they are really that much better I would have to say no. As for action the Avery pro grade's have just as much action as the ffd elites. Same decoy just one is flocked.

I have used the pro grade Avery desk for several years. Have been looking at the flocked and they look really good. They are $12 me per decoy than the pro grade. I am not sure it is worth that much more.

Just go ahead and get stuffers, you can't get more realistic than that.

That was my next question. How does the flocking hold up?

You have to be more careful when handling them and make sure to use slotted bags. Other than that fairly well.

I have problems with the flocking coming off on the heads from taking them on and off. I don't like how they look when they get a little wear on them. If you pick them up every time you use them and keep them in something that's climate controlled I imagine you can keep them looking new for a while. I usually put out 4 or 5 dozen full bodies at the beginning of the the season so I can just blend in the older ones with the unflocked. I have made the mistake of leaving them out overnight, the frost on the flocking turns them into a snow goose and doesn't defrost very quickly.

Hard to clean if you get them really dirty. I've never had a speck hunt where having flocked heads mattered. I've got some with and some without. I'm willing to do some research any time you are ready! You've got my number! ;)
