Beach conditions
 

Can anyone shed some light on what the beach is looking like? I might make a trip tomorrow morning, just wanna know before I go.

Going off the very high south winds yesterday.... and the now very high north winds today... id say its going to be CHOCOLATE MILK

Is tomorrow to soon? I see Thursday the winds supposed to shift back to west

Yeah id say tomorrow is too soon bud... But you gotta go to know... so if you dont have that far to drive give it a shot.

I'm coming from lafayette and will be playing hooky if I go. What do you think about Thursday?

what are you goin for? if your goin for trout you will more than likely come up empty handed man... if your goin for reds in the surf as long as its fairly calm they can always be caught.

Going for trout. They aren't at the beach this time of year or what?

Let me ask a stupid question, which beach?

Little florida or Maes. Hadn't figured that part out yet.

They can be caught this time of the year... but we will need a few days of light north winds.... high north winds muddy the water also

I was curious as I just moved over here in July and only know of Holly Beach so far.

I can tell u this , the lake is pure muddy right now , so I would bet my next trip that the beach is 100xs worst

I would not waist a penny of gas going to the beach , winds are ripping west north west at 15-25 all night and day

Same stretch of beach they are just talking about a little further west.

Lil Florida and maes for sure is like 8-10miles west. Maes is in Johnson bayou. On the border

Beach Trout
 

I don't think they ever leave, but different times of the year produce more conducive fishing conditions than others. ;)

Muddy Water
 

SW La canals and bayous are Muddy too. The majority of the wind the last few days has been out of the West, the beach water around Rockefellar has been chocolate. Actually had to walk/push my boat over 100 yds. to get it through a normally OK Pass, last Tuesday, 10/14. I really wasn't thinking I'd have to jump in the water butt.... I found a few fish(Trout and Reds), worked hard for them though.

There's only a few strategies that might work, look for some LONG Dead-End Oilfield canals for instance, or the protected sides of bays. Trout are very particular about when they want to eat these days. Times like this you got to "pay your dues", it don't take long to realize you shoulda stayed home but again...explore, try something new... and unlike some of the aristocrats on here, bring a cast net to catch some live bait. ;)
