Rockefeller Locks

Does anyone know why the gate at the Rockefeller Locks aka Big Iron Gate keeps opening since a motnh or more? The reason is we caught a very lack of shrimp not like what we did last year. Just wondering..

Thanks,

When they will close the gate again? I'm sure when the gate closes, water wouldn't push shrimp out to flow into a scattered canal.

Draining the east side of Rockefeller for duck habitat? Needing higher water level on west side to float some heavy equipment?? Your guess is as good as mine.

I am guessing they are leaving them open to flush out/kill the salvania. But I am just guessing.
