Nice chunk.... Most people grew up on the Calcasieu but I grew up fishing the Sabine.

Bet it was a nice morning on the river.

I love Phoenix Lake.. Me and a buddy entered a friendly fishing tournament with some co-workers. $10 a person $10 big fish. When we met for the weigh in the top boat at the time had some pickles. We had 14.5 lbs with 5 bass. Two of those bass being 4 lb. I could care less about the money... It was the braggin' rights!

Yeah the sabine took a beating from the two hurricanes. There are a lot of places like phoenix lake,Blacks bayou,Burtons ditch, conway bayou that the bass population has not recovered in.

that's sad to hear! Conway bayou had some very nice fish! I could go there and carry a good sack out!

Yeah it seems the LA side of the river has been longer to recover. I know Burnt out and Nibbletts have been fine but the places further south have not recovered fully. I use to catch a lot of bass in Burtons ditch and have not caught one since the last Hurricane.
