Grand Chenier 12/3
3 Attachment(s)
Hunted Grand Chenier yesterday. Noticably fewer birds, however at least the water has dropped some and is no longer over the floor of my blind. Took the "Old Man" Cooper The Super Dog out with me. His hunting is very limited due to his age, 13. I truly wish I could put his drive and knowledge into a young dog. He's slow and does not have the stamina he once did, but he's still a great bird dog (The best I ever had). We were able to scratch out a limit by 9:00 am. 3-Scaup, 1-BW Teal, 1-Spoonbill and 1-Mottled Duck. Coop had to "chase" down the mottled duck and slow and steady won that race. He was able to corner it then in bobbing for apples style came up with the bird during one of it's dives. Really something to see. Thanks old friend.

Robbie,
How have you guys been doing? I haven't heard from you in a while. Thanks for the replies all!!! |
We've been doing pretty well on geese. Ducks have been spotty. I hunted my blind in Bunkie yesterday and limited on specks in about 30 minutes. This morning I brought a friend back to Bunkie and we killed 3 specks and 4 snows. We should have limited on specks but between some bad shooting and some typical hunting deals where I was out of the blind when the birds came by we didn't.
We only had 2 guided trips booked during the week this week. One day they killed 7 specks, 2 snows, a pintail, a mallard, a wood duck, and a teal. The second day they killed 6 specks. Were killing some birds. Thanks for asking!! Robbie aka Big Hutc |
