boat step

I have a 19 ft. Frontier and I'm looking for something to use as a step to make it a little easier to step up to the front deck. Something about 6-8" high would be perfect, especially if it would also act as a small storage box. any ideas would be appreciated?

maybe this:

and you have the option to screw it down, silicone it in place, or just leave it portable

Get a glass shop to make you a step/fish box like on the black jack. That could be a great add on to the boat. I'm thinking about doing that on my 2104 frontier

Think they can match the pattern of the deck finish?

alphaman 12-07-2014 12:18 PM

Im Sure they can. Actually I will be doing that in the future.

Call Lyle 278-6532. He is the glass guy around lafayette! Everyone I know is pleases with his work. I would think that box would be an easy add on...

Deside how high you want it to be bc you have the side walls from the rod lockers already and back wall from the front storage compartment.
All you would need add is the front wall for the box and a lid with a latch. Boom! Mini black jack. Lol

My boat is a 2007 19ft. and doesn't have rod lockers like yours does. Still, if I go out to the gunnels, then all I need is the front wall and a lid then "Boom!" as you say :) Thanks for the lead on the glass guy. I'm gonna call him this week. If his price is not exorbitant, I'd rather do that then a separate box in the middle of the floor which will get in the way and probably trip peeps who won't realize it's there.

alphaman 12-07-2014 07:26 PM

Cool. Having a seperate box would Probably eat away at the floor from running etc. Then you have a bigger problem.

You could even make the box smaller but still have the lenght and the step up would be on the sides vs stepping on the lid.

Interesting, hadn't thought of that. Because the gunnel's curve up on the sides which makes it difficult to use that area as floor area since it is not even, that might make it better. If you can envision it, there would be two steps, one on each side but since they would just cover the curved area, it wouldn't take up any floor area. Have to think about that.
