What exactly is junk about them?

They may keep things cold if you live in the arctic, but south Louisiana not. I would agree they are JUNK.

Why put a hard rectangular shaped ice brick in the cooler
If yours trying to cover fish or drinks u need total coverage( ice)
This is a product to catch buyers..... Plain and simple.
You still have to freeze em for each trip, clean up and then store em.
They take just don't give the same cooling effect as good ole ice..... Wether it's frozen from the inside or outside.( lmao)

What's the price of this junk?
I've seen it advertised on Facebook.... Never a price

the only thing these are good for is stuff you want to keep "cool" (not ice cold) and for stuff you want to stay dry, so in the cooler for food items maybe, but nothing else much these things are good for.

I have.....I like them and use them to keep foods cold when at the camp over time.
Ice will melt and ruin some stuff...........the stuff that is in contact with the block will acutually freeze with thier coldest blocks.

It also adds life to ice when used together.

when you have to ride out 12 miles by boat to get anything you consider things like this
they are pricey though

That's kinda what I was thinking, packing up groceries for a camping trip and such. Thanks for the input.

My wife gets her humera every 2 weeks in a Styrofoam chest w/ 1.5 " thick walls and 2 ice packs. If i don't use ice i have those packs for days. anyone needs chest to ship fillets let me know.

I freeze a couple half gallon size jugs full of water. or I freeze some water bottles for my smaller ice chest for food. I'd never buy these things.
