thinking about Myrtle Groove for some Reds tomorow?

Thinking about all the fun I had this time last year fighting the reds out of Myrtle Groove and was wondering if anyone has been out there lately?

Here is a 42" I caught under a popping cork in the shallows, bringing back those great memories.

another shot of her, and yes, she was tagged and released as well:

If anyone else if heading out of Myrtle Groove, I hope to see you out there catching them.

Some folks that didn't have to work went down this am. 5 limits and catch and release home by 11 am. they were fishing from someones dock.

Yea, Myrtle Groove proper is deep around 15 to 20 ft and is about 3/5 mile long. I have heard stories of the fish that are caught right near the marina in the winter is pretty steady not to mention some good freshwater cats are also know to be caught there as well. Thinking about trying a little further down WIlkinson canal a few miles, I know of a decent hole that I have caught fish at before.

Thanks for the advice, if my holes do not work I will have to try near the Marina.

I'm heading to lafitte tomorrow. No real plan on where to fish as of right now. Good luck

The fish were jumping in the boat for us on Saturday. It started out slow, but after helping out an old fishermen that down on his luck we shortly found our spot. Once we settled in the trout started showing up and then the reds. We ended up catching well over 100 fish that day. Ended the day with:
15 reds
25 trout
And tagged 44 reds, and 4 trout

After running out of tags, we started working on the trout as we already had our limit of reds

What a day

Thinking about hitting Bayou Bienvue tomorrow. Anyone been catching up that way? It should be a great day for fishing. Thinking Myre Groove will be overloaded with boats based on the weather.

Apparently it's been really good. My buddy was tossing back 18" trout last weekend at the main lock.... I haven't been able to partake in the fun being that my boat stays in lafitte now.
