Tips n tricks for TICKS

Hey guy's I was looking for some tips to keep ticks off or out of my clothes while scouting in the woods. I made a small trek this afternoon and ended up finding 8 ticks on myself and clothes when I got back to the house. I've heard of tucking the socks in and wearing long sleeves but is there anything I can apply to my clothes to help keep the ticks away? Any tricks on keeping them off me?

I was thinking about putting together a set of clothes just for my scouting trips...I've had one here and there on me, but after finding 8 at a time I'm ready to take more preventative measures.

Permethrin would probably be the best route. They sell aerosol cans with some in it. I went to Dixie surplus in lafayette and hot a packet of it. You mix it in a couple of gallons of water and dip your clothes in it and let them air dry. Stays on for multiple washes and KILLS TICKS ON CONTACT. Dont spray directly on your skin

Permethrin is a life saver for me. I turkey hunt in La and the midwest and I think ticks are attracted to me.

Since I started using permethrin all I find are dead ticks on me.

I buy it by the bottle at tractor supply. Mix an ounce or so in a spray bottle with water. Spray down all my hunting clothes. Let them air dry. Normally lasts we a week of hunting before I need to spray down again.

permethrin is a good product that works well.

But you have to spray your clothing in advance and let it dry.

Another very good and cheap way to keep tick, red bugs or any other insects off your body is to use Powdered Sulphur. Put a little in your socks and around your waist and this will eliminate your problem.

Deer...best time to scout for them is right after the season. For the most part everything is dead and you will find the areas they frequent during the later part of the season. Them deer switch it up when the rut comes they aren't in the same place they were during the summer and in early bow season. You also don't ahve to worry about blowing them out of an area because you won't be in there for another 7 or 8 months...There is quite a bit of information backing this. Also it's a great time of the year to look for sheds while squirrel hunting.
