anyone tagging fish in Verm Bay?

I was thinking of joining the Louisiana Tag program, was wondering if anyone has joined fishing the Vermilion Bay area? I spend 90% of my fishing time around Cypremort Pt, Verm bay, SWpass , the reefs etc. I've never heard of anyone catching a tagged fish or of anyone tagging fish.
Seems we lack in that area.

I have joined, but haven't fished much since.

Tagged a croaker one day

I would, but I eat every fish I catch. If they start tagging hard heads, I'm in. Otherwise, I'm keeping the fish.

So you only catch fish that are legal?

Good thought. Guess I could tag all the 11 inch specks at Caldwell.

Haha, better order extra tags!

I tag at VB.

I started tagging fish in Dec. 2002 and thus far have tagged 51 fish when fishing out of Cypromort Pt. and a lot more when fishing the West Cote and East Coat Blanche Bay areas. Have tagged 1,400+ fish (total) and thought that was a lot but a doctor from Lafayette tagged this many in one year. About 30 of my 1,400 have been caught a 2nd time.

On my way to Burn's Pt. in about 30 minutes and will post when I get back.

I have the kit as well, but my dad would never let me throw a fish back in the water. I need to go with some fellow taggers. I'd tag everyone, I barely eat them anymore

Again, you can tag fish that aren't legal.

True but you don't catch that many small ones plus I'd rather tag the big ones [emoji41]

You can tag small reds? Not small trout. Right?

Fished ECBB on Tuesday, 7:30 to 12:00, finding very little fishable water but catching 6 reds, 1 flounder, 2 bass & 1 goo, all on artificials. Tagged 1 bass & 3 red fish. Salinity was about 1.5 and dirty, surprised we caught anything.

Quackhead62 03-25-2015 01:00 PM

Ive tagged a few redfish last summer around redfish point and little bay. Hopefully going to be getting back on the water in a few weeks to get on some more fish.
