Rollover launch is west of Pecan island. Just look for a sign that says rollover bayou. And don't think you'll get one tire in the water before she comes out to collect her $5.

There are a few places out there that hold red fish. Primarily the banks of the Hebert canal before you get onto the refuge proper. If the water is coming out of the flumes they will stack up in front of them but usually when the shrimp are running. You can catch some Bulls out at the mouth this time of year on a falling tide. The water is usually dirty out there. A good portion of the vermilion corp marsh drains out of rollover bayou and when it's been raining like it has it's probably going to be pretty dirty. It's never really great but you can catch a few if you work for them.

Marque thanks for the information. Always grateful for your input on the boards, from a guy just learning the ropes. Thanks.

Still unsure of the name of the launch and the canal/bayou that I was calling "rollover bayou".
I am looking at the canal directly south of the launch, with the two close weirs.
Any info on names of these places so I can stop bothering everyone with bad info? THanks so much

you got it right, that is rollover, you can't miss it coming down 82, go back to google map and you will see what it looks like, joseph harbor just down the road from there

Rollover Bayou

okay, launch is called rollover landing. You are not on the refuge until it makes the 90 deg turn to the east. The canal up to that point is called the Hebert Canal. The weirs don't really have names that I know of. The first one is referred to as the six pipes cause there are 6 big flumes draining the marsh. The second has just been redone and fenced in. Once you are on the refuge it's called roller over bayou. As far as I know. I been wrong before

Mouth of Rollover

I had some problem at the mouth of Rollover trying to get back in last year. Tide was running out and the north wind pulled the water level down. Does anyone know a best way to get in/out, or is there no way to avoid low tide/north wind problems? I couldn't find a channel, had to putt putt in.

What little channel there is would be along the east bank when exiting the bayou. So when exiting stay left until it opens up, Then straight south. Attachment 86681

Thanks, Marque.

You're welcome. I hate to sound like a Rollover expert because that place sucks. I messed around a lot out there when I was a kid so I know it. I don't recommend it as a fishing destination. I really only go there to access the gulf.

Weirs

Most people call them by the number of out flows. "5 pipes" "3 pipes" ect.

Went today and took my little cousin. We fished the second weir and kept two reds (broke off two more) dead shrimp on bottom but had a blast and Marque and you other guys Thank you so much. I never would've known where/how to get there and fish if not for y'all's help on the board.
Much appreciated.

I just got it, that may be the funniest thing I have ever heard. We always called her Miss November.
