offshore Venice LA

Finally got a stretch where the tuna started cooperating and the weather cooperated a little bit. The good thing is when the loop current pushed in the dolphin came in with it which is hopefully a sign of a good dolphin run. The best day I had on dolphin was I believe 6. Most of them bit on chunks althogh we had a few hit topwaters.

The live bait has been a little hard to find still. If it wasnt foggy I could find pogies although they become very difficult to find in zero vis fog.

The two days I had any amount of pogies the tuna were eating them.

The skippies and blacks were easy to come up with though for chunk bait which did produce a few bites for us everyday.

I also got a few smaller yf to bite anteater jigs one day.

The other strong bite recently has been ajs on the jig. Its nice when you dont have to find live bait for ajs and you can just drop down an anteater jig and have fun on light tackle.

We tried for scamps a few times with no real luck on them.

The mangroves should be about to kick off as well as snapper season which starts on june 1.
