White Oak launch closed next Sat AM ?

Guys/Gals,

I ran into a large group of "Tri-athletes" who were practice swimming in the launch area and around the dock yesterday AM :shaking: ... Their spokesperson asked if I had heard about the launch being closed next Saturday between 9 and 11 while they conducted the swimming portion of their event .

My words to her were to use caution with all of this current running down, there's allot of debris in the water not to mention extra critters with the high water . I would hate for someone to get hung up with a old limb line with this current :help:.

As far as who has rights to what, I avoided that conversation. Figured that will work itself out when the time comes . I cant imagine coming back to the place where I launched earlier that morning and find it closed down for three hours ... She stated that CPSD water division was part of this and would be escorting the swimmers, so we will have to see ...

I mentioned that to her as well and suggested she speak with someone representing the tournament ... Should be interesting :D

Using the river for the swim portion of the Tri-Athalon is not very smart.

Good luck to all and hope everyone stays safe.

I tried to explain that ... Seems like I-10 or 210 beach would be a much more suitable location without the current concerns .

We fished WO Park today and the current is running at least 3 mph with visibility less than a foot, you could get in a bind real quick  ...

White Oak Boat launch

I was one of the swimmers that day and raced Sunday, it was the day after the bass tournament so that was a non issue.

Everyone finished the swim safely and enjoyed the park and he area Sunday morning until about 10:30 am

I heard of only one angry fisherman that was refered to the police officer on site
and problem resolved. As a fisherman I understand how this could be frustrating, so we tried to spread the word before that day to avoid problems

Thanks for understanding
