Saltwater license up 135%

This may have been discussed before, but today I went to renew my licenses, and everything remained the same except for the saltwater license-up from $5.50 to $13? How can they justify that kind of increase? Started not to get one on principle-but I did anyway. :shaking:

"W" 06-01-2015 06:01 PM

Well the WLF just placed 4 new reefs in Big Lake as oyster pads

bigheadboo 06-01-2015 06:10 PM

I would imagine lifetime has already been adjusted to relfect the new price. One thing is certain...a freshwater license increase isn't far behind. What maybe $17-18.

Still the same price for a lifetime license. Doubt the freshwater increases, considering the reasoning behind the saltwater increase. There have been freshwater hatcheries for decades, and I believe the saltwater license increase was partly to fund new saltwater fish hatcheries.

I know what ill be asking for for my birthday.

speck-chaser 06-01-2015 09:35 PM

Well, its not as bad when you think of it over 12 months unlike duck stamps over 2 months.

specknation 06-01-2015 09:51 PM

Come on $13 dollars, lets see that breaks down to 7 cents per trip on average for me to saltwater fish. It's the best bargain our state has to offer.

marshrunner757 06-01-2015 10:24 PM

What pisses me off is out of state didn't increase

singingwhodat 06-01-2015 10:39 PM

I just completed the application and wrote a check for the Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License.

Reggoh 06-02-2015 07:38 AM

The Lifetime license has always been a great deal for Hunting and a good deal for fishing.

This is what I was buying for Hunting every year:
Basic $15.00
Big Game $14.00
Muzzleloader $10.50
Archery $10.50
State Duck Stamp $5.50
WMA Permit $15.00
TOTAL OF $70.50
LIFETIME HUNTING $300.00 (4.25 years recovery time)

Fishing License:
Basic $9.50
Saltwater $13.00
TOTAL OF $22.50
LIFETIME FISHING $300.00 (13.33 Years Recovery Time)

You do get a slightly better deal with the Combo for $500.00 which is what I did. I also bought my kids their lifetime license prior to them turning 5 years old. For $200.00 this is a no brainer and I encourage any of you with small children to make this investment.

An even better deal is when you become an old fart, $60 at age 60 for a lifetime combo license.

Crawl79 06-02-2015 07:52 AM

I was used graduation money to get my lifetime combo when I was 18. Solid investment....

I have since purchased combo's for both niece and nephew before they turned 2.

Is that what those barges blowing gravel or sand into the south part of the lake is? Reefs or pads for oysters?
