Making a frog light help

I am trying to assemble a hard hat light. However I am unable to locate any metal funnels. I've got all the other parts but no one sells metal funnels anymore and online they are almost $15 a piece. Will a plastic funnel work? Or will the light bulb melt it? Any ideas or leads?

Scratch this my buddy told me about a light housing at napa that the bulb can be put in. And no need to jerry rig a funnel into a light housing

I've used a funnel in the past, but I need to make another light for the wife and kids. If you don't mind me asking, can you please post a pic and/or description of what your friend suggested?

Supposed to pic them up in the morning. Will post a finished product for you tomorrow

Look up "Ledlensor" lights. Brightest LED headlight with a focusing beam.
The H14.2 is bright, focuses into a nice tight spot beam and is just as bright as a hardhat light and best of all : NO POWER CORD to deal with !!!!. The H14R.2 is even brighter but costs a little more. I bought one of these and my hardhat light is now collecting dust on the shelf . Batteries last a long time too. Frogged 6 hrs with no loss of brightness. LED is the way to go. Best price is on brightguy.com

I guess what it comes down to is aint every body got 150$ to spend on a head light. Good ole country boys will come up with something they can afford even if they make it them selves. I do most frogging in cane field ditches anyways and a cheap energizer light does just fine.

Anyone who can afford a $150 light isn't a "good ole country boy"?

fishfighter 06-09-2015 10:52 AM

overall your almost better to just buy the light premade. by the time I bought everything, I basically built 3 lights for the price of 2, and that was already having the helmets laying around. But hey hopefully I wont have to worry about anymore frogging lights for at least a decade as long as I take care of them

kibb 06-09-2015 02:12 PM

So, what is that you used for the bulb housing?

Thanks,
Kibb

FF_T_Warren 06-09-2015 02:26 PM

It's a light assembly at napa. The housing is a firm rubber. Just pop the flood bulb out and put the spot bulb in. All available at napa

Nice work. Also like your decal on the freezer.

I've got a headlight spot that I haven't used in years (12V with a cord) if anyone interested.
