Dodge Ram 1500
 

Ok, let me hear the pros and the cons of a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd.... I am thinking of switching to that from a 2010 Ford F150 4wd....

I have a 2013 Ram 1500 Big Horn 4x4 with the 5.7 HEMI and love it. Nothing really bad to say about it, it does like to drink but I have 35's and am still getting right at 14 in the city.

Are you talking the new 1500 diesel?

I have the 1500 diesel and love it.

It's only an $1800 option for the diesel, so I'm considering both. I understand that the diesel doesn't quite tow AS MUCH as the 5.7 liter, but it only differs by about 700 lbs.... That's not enough to justify one or the other.

Did you have to cut anything to run those 35s on the front? I am getting roughly 12.5 mpg on my Ford right now with 35s as well. And, that's chipped for a fuel saver mode!!! Pulling a 24' boat, I get 8 mpg. The 5.4 doesn't have any get up at all. I can mash and it goes nowhere. How's the ride? Decent? Was leather an option on the Big Horn editions?

I didn't have to cut anything, all I put on the front was some Bilstein 5100 shocks and have them set as high as they go. I also installed some Airlift Helper Bags that go inside of the springs on the rear end because it would sag a good bit when something was hooked up. The ride is great I find, MUCH better than my last 2 Z71's. I'm not sure about the leather.

Really? wow, then why bother with a diesel? I mean that's why I went from a Tundra 5.7 to a Ford diesel 6.7 f350 was for the towing went from 12K to almost 30K towing. Im really surprised/disapointed at the towing capacity of the 1500 deisel

Dodge 2500 2004.5 4wd 5.9 Cummins 16mpg city with 33's 140,000 miles 100plus HP chip. 11years and counting truck is holding together well can't justify replacing it. I'm a red light racer:D

The Dodge 1500 Diesel isnt meant for towing. Its meant for fuel econemy! Thats why the towing is only 700lb diff from the other 1500.

DONT DO IT!!! Dodge ranks at the bottom every year of 1500 trucks! Get a Tundra or the Ford!!!

2016 F150 will have a diesel option.....maybe

Here it goes...I figured someone would bring up something OTHER than what the poster is asking about.

I drove a 2014 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 L hemi for about 18 months. I loved it! I never thought that I would like a Dodge but since my company gave me that truck I will now consider Dodge anytime I buy a truck.

It had plenty of power. It pulled my boat with ease much better than my 5.3 L GMC does. It also got great fuel mileage, around 18-20 mpg on the highway. It was very roomy inside. It did have a bit of a rough ride but that was because I had some heavy duty tires on it that called for 55 psi.

I really would recommend the 1500 Dodge with the 5.7 Hemi to anyone looking for a reliable truck with plenty of power.

However, stay away from the small V8 they offer. I think it's a 4.8 or something like that. That thing is turd. I pulled my boat with it once and was worried I wasn't going to make it over the bridge in lake Charles!

No worries. This is what I need to know.... ALL the good and the bad. I'm considering a Tundra as well. I mean hell, cant the tundra pull the space shuttle? In all seriousness, it looks as though a person cannot pay less than $50,000 for a truck anymore. And that's only a few options. Loaded out could go well into the upper 50s to low 60s. Crazy if you ask me..... My only NEED is leather. With that package comes a higher price tag as well as more options due to these packages. I really don't want to do a cloth seat then get it leathered aftermarket. Not sure if I trust that. Cheaper, but not better in my eyes.

I had a tundra and loved it ZERO problems in 143k miles id still own if i didnt need to tow 17k and need a 4x4. Great truck

When putting $50k + into a vehicle I would consider the resale or trade value for down the road to get some return.

If this was a $14 point A to B economy car I wouldn't worry about it as much.

The cost of today's trucks is a investment to me. Not just a vehicle ...

A great set of seat covers are MUCH cheaper than spending a few extra thousand dollars on an upgraded package just for leather seats. I'm pretty sure I paid right under $35k for my truck. That was no money down and my trade in was just paid off, didn't get any extra for it.

With that being said, what would your investment choice be?
