Planning A Trip To 'Big Lake'

Hello everyone, I've never fished the 'Big Lake' area before and I am currently anticipating a trip there Sunday, which is June 28th. I'm slightly worried about weather conditions and would appreciate any insight from locals or frequent fishermen if I should reschedule my trip. Also we plan on targeting black drum, redfish, flounder, and spotted trout; we would appreciate any suggestions on locations to fish as well as tactics for fishing this time of year in Big Lake's various locations. Any and all help is appreciated.

Welcome to the site! Just check the weather the morning of...if I went off the forecasts I would never make a trip. Every trip this year had T-Storm predicted for the days I went and I've only been chased off the water once. However, Sunday does look like it might be day number 2. As for where to go...get you a Hook and Line map and give it a shot. Might not be a bad idea to buy you some live shrimp to make life a little easier on yourself. Good luck and be safe.

Well, my original trip got pushed back till today. Arrived around 5:50 am and fished till about 1:00 pm before the heat made us tap out. We made our way half way around the lake, but had no luck and it seemed as if everyone else was also not catching anything either (well, with the exception of crabs.... they were plentiful). Did have a couple of bites really early on, and will be back on the lake next time the opportunity presents itself. Once again thank everyone for the helpful tips!
