New outboard suggestions?

I'm in the market to to buy a new outboard in the 40-60hp range. Any suggestions to which motor to consider? Any particular motor I should stay away from? I'm planning on putting it on an 18ft. tunnel.

thanks

Suzuki is still having corrosion issues. I just talked to the mechanic yesterday and he said they are still dealing with this corrosion problems on the motors. I had a 40hp Suzuki with less then 300 hours that the head corroded out on.

I can say I love my 2014 Nissan 4 stroke 40hp and would buy another one tomorrow if need be. if you remove the restrictor plate on the throttle body (takes less then a minute to do) it noticeably increases the power and becomes about a 45 hp. if I had to buy it again I think I would buy the 50hp though. I have a 17/52 alweld flatboat and it goes 33-34 mph with the restrictor plate removed and about 31-32 mph with the restrictor plate.

I especially like the adjustable idle speeds for when you want to fish by trolling baits, it switches on the fly from 800-1200 in 4 different idle speed settings by just pushing in the key like you would normally use the choke.

my two choices would be tohatsu then Yamaha in that order

No problem yet with my suzuki 175. Just had 100 hour service and just a little over 2 years old now

I love my Suzuki. Those tohatsu 40's are great motors too I've heard

Take a look at the Yamaha F70 only 243 lbs and lots of power. Sips fuel as well.
