Bristol Motor Speedway Vacation

A couple months ago the wife and I were kicking around ideas for our vacation. She wanted to go to the beach and I wanted mountains. Well after much debate and since we went to Orange Beach for Memorial Day weekend, we settled on the Bristol Night Race in the mountains. We left bright and early last Friday morning and drove to Ashville, NC. We had dinner on Lake Lure, which is about 45 minutes SE of Ashville. Attachment 94587
The next morning we took off early and headed to the track. Along the way from NC to TN the mountains were beautiful.

Once we got to the track around 10:30a we rode around a lil while scouting out the best place to park. We found a good spot and took off the track to see everything.

We covered a lot of ground, covering 9.5 miles just walking around seeing the sights waiting on the race which started at 7:30p. We seen Jamie McMurray at the Chevy tent and Miss Sprint cup at the Good Year tent. Attachment 94593

It was a great experience and I would recommend this trip to anyone. Racing fan or not.. This place is LOUD, you cannot take off your hearing protection during the race and you can barely talk to someone while under caution.

After the race we drove to Gatlinburg and spent a couple days there seeing the sights and just relaxing. When we left Gatlinburg,we went to Nashville for a day, then on the Memphis for a day. We went to the new Bass Pro pyramid.. This place is top notch!!

When we left there we Thursday we headed the Vicksburg and went to the Casino. Work up Friday morning and headed home, hitting some antique/flea markets along the way. All and all a good, relaxing trip. Put a total of 2,017 miles in on the road!!

Looks and sounds like a great trip man. Bristol is awesome. I love watching the sprint cars run on dirt there.

Looks like one Hell of a time Chip. Beats sitting at the beach with sand in your @$$ crack all week! Tell Baby Momma I said hey.

Great pics!!! I've been to talladega 7 or 8 times, I'm ready for a change and night race at Bristol is one of two on my list, night race at Daytona is the other.

I've been to Talladega 3 times and I have a great time every time, but this is a whole different experience. Like I mentioned before I would recommend this race to anyone!
