Jeep Death Wobble
I know there are other forums dedicated to jeeps and I've been reading those as well on this topic. But I was just curious if anyone here has had first hand experience with Death Wobble on their Jeep and what they found to be the cause.I just picked up a 98 TJ Wrangler and I am getting the DW at about 55mph. Anyone ever had it?

Yep! got that on my Jeep at 50 mph. I have it under control but it will flare every now and then. i have done the following but it depends on what shape of your jeep is in as to what needs to be done.
-upgraded the steering stablize, didnt do much. -changed the steering bar, helped alot. -i would rotate the tires but the wobble wore a pattern into them and had to change the tires. Proper tire inflation is key to keep the wobble out. -tie rod ends, ball joints, helped alot. i have it licked now but beacuse i did all of this over the course of a few years, the wobble has warped my front rotors and i get the wobble when i hit the brakes sometimes. PM me and i will give you my number. having been through this and a all the research i have done i should be able to help you out. you know what Jeep stands for right? **** you don't know what a death wobble is until you drive my 79 CJ5. I have replaced all of the above and it has helped a little but not much. I just take it as being one of the joys of owning an old jeep. Kind of like the chine walk on a fast boat just have to learn to drive it.
