Delcambre Canal

Can anyone on this site tell me a little bit about the Delcambre canal area. Is there any productive fishing in this area. A friend of mine is giving me access to a camp on the canal near Lake Peigneur. I would like to know about both North and South of Delcambre.
Is it brackish or saltwater. What type of fishing in the area.
Any information would be appreciated.

Catfish can be caught next to the fish processing plant south of the boat ramp. If you head all the way south to the mouth where it meets weeks bay, there is good fishing at times there. Shrimp or live mullet on the bottom works for me. The water is brackish and gets salty the further south that you go especially this time of the year.
