Fishing Line

Im thinking about trying another type of braid to sling from my Shimano Curado. Looking for suggestions. I currently use the standard power pro ranging from 30-50lbs. I dont backlash often but when I do make a mistake i find that power pro really digs in and causes issues.

Just go back to mono, and thank me tomorrow!!! Braid is a fad and sucks!!! Just my two cents

Braid in some form has been around many years before mono was ever invented.

I agree. I haven't found any problems fishing with mono for over 30 years that would cause me to go looking for other options. #trilenebiggameforlife

I prefer mono also. Braid makes me cuss a lot.

The Fins Windtamamer is awesome. I've been using Power Pro and some mono lines but the Windtamer is the real deal. I prefer braid.

All lines have their uses..... the sensetivity of braided line is unmatched.... using mono on a tails rod for trout feels like using a rubberband.... cant feel **** until your already hooked up. But to each their own...

I used to think the same thing till i started tournament fishing and disagree. You can speak to just about any big tournament guy and he will be fishing braid. For the standard fishing with the occasional big fish yes MONO is easier and cheaper. But if you are consistently chasing big fish Braid or flouro. I use Berkley power pro superslick works great.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Gonna give the windtamer and super slick a try

Suffix is worth a try. I find it cast further than Power Pro. I have been trying a few different braids lately looking for an alternative to Power Pro. Berkley Nanofil out cast everything but I can't get used of the feel of it and its expensive. I find that Fins and Superslick get frayed easily and just didn't stand up to the abuse I put it trough. I bought a 200 yard roll of Mustad 15b braid for 10$ and have been pleased with it so far. Try the Suffix, its definitely worth a look.

I prefer Sufix 832 also. Buy it when it's on sale. Good stuff.

I use regular suffix. Have been happy with it for the last 3 or 4 years

Suffix Performance for me.. I've tried all the others so far. FINS Windtamer is a close second... the third ... I don't even recommend anymore.

The difference between Suffix performance and Suffix 832 is that the Performance is a 6 strand all superline, the 832 is an 8 strand 1 Gore Fiber interwoven with 7 strands of Dynema (another brand of superline). The idea is that the Gore fiber would reduce the friction while passing through the guides. I still like the Performance Braid the best...least fray, great distance, great durability, great strength, easiest to get a backlash out of compared to many others.

FINS has a new line... 40g it's a 9 strand braid (8 wrapped around 1 inner core all spectra fiber). Looks promising. Smaller dia. and stronger. A buddy is testing it out..i'll try to keep ya'll informed. If it's better than suffix performance in durability, casting, backlash removal, and ease of use... I'll upgrade but so far It's the old standard for me.

Mono has it's place. I still like it on my topwater rod, but I won't hesitate to throw a top on braid either. And I still know some old schoolers that love their mono and do just fine.

I like all the suffix braid.
