Opening Weekend in Sabine

Saturday started slow but ended with a bang. Got our 3 man limit. Lots of blue wing, couple of green wing, grey ducks and a couple of good groups of spoonies. Right before and during the downpour the birds flooded into the decoys.

Sunday's timing was opposite of Saturday. Great flights until 9am, then it shut down hard. Finished 3 birds shy of our 4 man limit. All pintail, grey ducks, spoonies, and even a pair of mallards worked for us.

All in all it was an awesome opener in the refuge and nice to see a good number of birds flying the marsh!

Nice hunting with you as always. Sorry you got that saltwater all over your beloved benelli.

Very nice. Never hunted public opening day. Was it a crowded nightmare?

Not at all. Easy in, isolated hunting spot, and easy out.
