Sure did! I'm just worried about the miles I have on it.
|
I think repair cost has to be 75-80% of the trucks value to be considered totaled. not sure what the blue book of that is though. If you want it to be totaled make sure the estimate uses all oem parts not aftermarket

How much is to replace airbags? Both the sides came out and the one on the side of my seat... |

its a crying shame when a couple thousand dollars of body work is all that is needed, yet your nearly totaled because of thousands of dollars of airbags deployed.
if you don't need it right away you could always source air bags from salvage yards for it from trucks hit from the rear. it all depends if you can replace them yourself or if you have to pay someone to do it for you. back in 1999 I had a brand new Silverado with 300 miles on it hit with very very similar damage and state farm spent $12,000 repairing a $15,000 truck. they replaced both front fenders, both door skins, a front grille, one aluminum wheel and tire, rear bumper and bed side with tailgate and new paint job. my agent said they only total them if repairs are the same or more then book value, he said if they can save $500 fixing it, they will. |

I got rear ended at the of October, bent quarter panel, new bumper some paint..... $2,500 in damage. You will pretty close to beng totaled since both sides were hit but I'm no expert. Quote:
Who the hell knows when they going to need an airbag? Also a second hand airbag is the last thing I want in my truck. |
Quote:
as to second hand airbag, im not talking about a used reconditioned one, im talking about a truck like his, in great condition, that was totaled, but the air bags were not deployed because it was a rear end collision. to each his own but the one in the salvage yard, provided it came from a truck interior in good condition, it is no more or less reliable then the one that was in your truck. that said its a personal choice with safety devices and if it comes to getting a new truck or getting a replacement air bag from salvage yard, it is an option is all im saying. a truck like that, he can get all the front end parts he needs and the air bags at a very affordable price making keeping the truck worth it. |

so it will be close, it all depends on the unseen damage, if there is any, since what you "can" see plus the air bags are likely going to cost you near $10,000 I would think |
I just saw a 2014 Sierra replace 2 doors, rocker panel, and paint and the insurance charge was $6000. There was no airbag deployment.

2014 F150 Platinum sandwiched between interstate overpass guardrail and tractor trailer....$20K estimate and counting...not near the total loss threshold. If you are subrogating/claiming against the at fault vehicle's driver/ins. make sure you file a diminished value claim as your trade in/resale value depreciation is part of the losses you incurred.

Thanks everyone!!!! The adjuster will look at it Mon. Or Tues.
I'll give everyone an update! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! Shoot straight and set the hook!! |
The fella that hit me was with All-State, they cut me a check a day i went in for my estimate. It was actually a little more than what the body shop is charging to fix it.

Got a '13 sterling grey fx2 5.0 supercrew if looking for a similar truck.
