Black Friday Fishing

Historically, the day after Thanksgiving has been one of the best fishing days of the year. The front that rolled through last weekend put a damper on the bite this week with sustained pressure readings of 30.2-30.3. This morning the pressure was just below 30.2 but typically the fish get used to it after a few days. I think the minor feeding period today was between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. We are also coming off a full moon. Looking back on the morning we had a good bite early on and things began to deteriorate with the east wind kicking up to 20 knots. Our first stop and first 3 casts produced trout then nothing. I made a short move upcurrent and found a good school again. We were on them pretty good slow rolling the bait on the bottom and also picking up a few 2 ft. under a popping cork. We boxed 20 trout before making a move deeper in the marsh. In a dead end with 8 feet of water we picked up 13 more trout and that's when the wind started. We were in a very narrow channel and still had whitecaps. That was the end of that. I brought us to a few more locations to try but it just wasn't working out. With 33 trout we called it. It was a great morning to be on the water and feel those trout thumps. I just can't get enough of setting that hook.

Nothing wrong with that. Good result in some tough conditions.

Do you have an app or a website that you like to look at for pressure readings and forecasts? I've been looking for a while, but I usually just end up relying on my handheld.

Yes. The app I use is a barometer and altimeter for iphone. As for pressure forecasts, I use www.intellicast.com and on the daily forecast the pressure is in the last column.

Thanks. That looks pretty good.
