Nice catch! I may have saw you out there but my boat runs too deep to get where ya'll fished. Your bag is a lot nicer than mine. I soaked shrimp in deeper bayou (6ft) and caught mostly black drum & catfish....ugly catch but they ate real good. :brew:

Nothing wrong with a puppy drum!

Have any of you guys cleaned a black drum and had worms come out at ya. I've never seen that before. Kinda nasty. I guess that's why they call them big nasty!!

biggun 12-11-2015 10:17 AM

Yes.. Most bigger drum have worms... Mostly in the tail area.. I've filleted the good meat..

Cubed it up...... Mostly I use it to cook a courtbouillon.

Rat-Red 12-11-2015 10:20 AM

Yep, cleaned plenty with worms. I've cleaned lots of reds and specks that's had um too. I've read that it's harmless so if there's one or two I'll cut it out and keep the filet. If the fish has a bunch of parasites I'm not taking any chances and don't eat it. I'm not a big fan of black drum but I have a buddy that will take every one I catch.

Ive cleaned thousands of trout with the little worms. That didn't prepare me for what I saw in a drum's tail that I thought was small enough to be okay. Nasty doesn't begin to describe it. Crabs and garfish ate good that night...

It's just more meat, nasty I guess but the freezer, oven ,hot oil fixes all of it!! Understand it's hard to do.

You must be that anonymous subscriber to my youtube channel. Good haul. You have to hit that spot perfect to be there for the bite. Looks like you got it figured out.
