MODIS VBay

It kind of seems like the west side of Vermilion Bay is starting to clear up a bit. Can someone, smarter than me, tell me if this is a good sign that its becoming "fishable"? I know there is a website about water salinity, but I'd rather just hear from someone with more fishing experience than me (that's probably 99% of the people on saltycajun.com)

If you get a southwest wind for a period of time it can blow clean water into the pass and clear it up for a short period of time. If you see it, fish it fast. When the wind shifts to coming out of the east or southeast the river water is move into that area and muddy it up again.

Right you are! There is a small window when a front comes through with west to northwest winds blowing for a day or 2. This will push in decent water from the west and allow the pass and points west to clean up a bit. Quick timing is everything with a high river running. Any south to southeast wind will dirty up in hours. Can be productive on T butte when you get that brief 1/2 day of cleaner water.

I always wanted to try but its such a risk since it may be dirt by the time you get there even if its the next day

Yeah, fishing the bay is a challenge to say the least. Especially when the river is up.

Chlorides only 2 parts/thousand or 2000 ppm, depending on your preference, @ Cypermont pt.
