Shooting Opportunities for Youths and Home School Families

Shooting is a great sport for youths and home schooling families. It is one of very few sports where teens compete right alongside of adults, and where we have found the adults to be very warm and welcoming and supportive of youth participation. The picture shows my daughter with the inset showing a 600 yard target in a shooting discipline known as F-Class. The 10 ring is a 6″ diameter circle.

Good shooting. Looks like a 191-5X score. Have you ever shot at the Golden Triangle 600 yd F-Class matches in Beaumont? They are the 4th Saturday of the month.

Thanks for the lead on that match. We have not shot it, and we didn't even know about it. I thought Bayou Rifles was the closest F-Class match in TX, but now we know better.

Great to see yung 'uns getting in the sport. I commend you as a father. Oddly enough I attended my first rifle match as a spectator this past Saturday at Palo Alto range in Donaldsonville. I liked what I saw, am hooked and plan on competing in the April Field Precision Rifle match and also in F-open on occasion. Working up loads for a 6.5 Creedmoor with my pop last pm. Great fun!

I shot in the YHEC program from 10-17 years old. If anyone wants to get their kid into shooting its a great program with clubs around the state.

Palo Alto is a great facility and great people. We've shot there many times, either F-Class (1st Sat of month) or FPR (2nd Sat of month). I love that covered firing line on rainy or hot sunny days.

I've never been to a rifle match but it looks fun.

MathGeek, if your crew is ever in the Lake Charles/Beaumont area for a match, let us know. I would gladly come watch them shoot if I'm available.

And bring my grandkids...
