I live in Iowa and I have 1.76" on my gauge for the week.
Not sure what the water looks like in the lake.

Here in Moss Bluff we got 2.3" this week..... so far. TV is still saying we should get some more rain..... but sun has been shinning most of the afternoon.

Most of the rain has been north and west of the Calcasieu river, so there should not be that much water coming into Big Lake to have much effect.

Wed and Thur the winds were 20 to 30 mph, so BL is probably fairly muddy.

Thanks Guys, we got 5 inches of rain at home south of Gueydan. Glad to see some of you were spared a little flood.

1" this week on the other side of Moss Bluff.

None of this flooding to the north is pushing water levels up on the lake huh?

Bu lake i mean big lake

Normally you would get a ton of rain water in the channel from an event like this with the run off. You see that dark tea looking colored water. Keep an eye on the salinity charts.

The Salt Water Barrier doesn't reach flood stage until Saturday or Sunday I think.

This kind of fresh water inundation at the salt water barrier, would it kill the fishing in the LC/Prien area this weekend?
I understand the idea that fish can congregate in deeper holes where salt water congregates below fresh water, but as a guy who has to pick and choose the days i get to fish, I was curious if taking a day this weekend to fish up there would be foolish.
Thank you.

Looks like I was wrong..... did not know the Oakdale area had gotten a lot of rain.

The I-10 gauge salinity reading had gotten up to 7 ppt before the rain. Now it has dropped below 1 ppt. and the river crest is still a few days away.

Here is what the Moss Bluff park boat launch looked like on Thur. Water is up about 2 feet above normal..... and still rising a little more. The second pic is at normal level.

That's no good
