Mama Tried...July 1968...I was 8 years old...memories of dad and me going fishing and listening to the song on the radio. He was the one who suggested to Buck Owens to name the group the "Buckaroos". Mr. Haggard gave us music we could relate to. God Bless the "Fugitive".

All the great ones are dying off and I don't really see anybody big enough to fill their shoes, the "keith urban" type country music just doesn't do it for me. RIP Merle Haggard

Another part gone . . Charlie Daniels, George Strait, et al, still alive . . But yes, the roll call of the good ones takes less time . . Possum was a hard one . . I dont listen to the new stuff . .

So true man. As far as the newer stuff I do like Gary Allen. That's just me though. Like you I don't care for the hick hop crap either. Merle, George, Patsy, Johnny, the Killer. Man that is great music. Several others belong on that list too. Elvis and can't leave off Waylon. I like Dwight Yoakom a lot also.
