Help with lights
Im having a problem with my nav and anchor lights syncing together. I have a 3 way switch. Im being told that in the up position (nav) should be nav and anchor light on and in the down position (anchor) should only be the anchor light and the middle position would obviously be off. My problem is when in the off position my nav light is on and when in the up position only my nav lights are on and when i put it in the down position my anchor light is on and my nav is on but the nav light is very dim. I wouldnt think it would be bright enough while being on the water. Does anyone know what is going on here? Possibly a ground issue?

Your nav light and anchor are normally wired in the oposite of the switch for instance up button for nav should be (wires) on bottom terminals some switches you also have to jump a wire from nav and anc. To another terminal to have them work semi or all together and you also have to have an 6 pole if it's toggle switch in order for them to work properly if you have a test light that will help you also know if there all unplugged from switch but 1 is still on sometimes they put a terminal that has a male leg and a female leg flat style terminal I have seen them connected straight to power and to a light switch for what ever reason they thought it would work

That new issue makes no since if the leads from your switch are not touching each other. That circuit should be dead.

Sorry about not reading the part where the wires were totally disconnected sounds like you have some kind of possible short. Is there any switches of any kind on the bow ? I would pull the light base off and see if there is any wires connected to it giving it a power source

Like I said, you need to re-wire

you have a short to the positive terminal somewhere, which is the source of the entire problem. Find that short and re-connect everything and you should be good.
Look for all the locations where you have multiple wires close together and more importantly touching or clamped together.
Good luck
