Beach Fishing

Hey guys,

Really want to take my boys on a fishing trip down south(I'm in S'port). Guided trips are a tad pricey and can't swing right now. Was looking for some info on places accessible to some decent beach fishing. Not looking to catch record fish just some good eating fish not to far from affordable lodging, never really beach/wade fished much but would appreciate any info!

We fish Rutherford beach and do good there catching bull reds. It's about 12 miles east of cameron. There is a motel in cameron but I have never stayed there so I don't know how it is. Have fun and good luck :)

Either Grand Isle or Holly beach area is where I always go. Both have good surf fishing and also plenty of areas off the roads to bank fish. Find an area where the water drains out of marsh into larger bayou and fish it when the tide starts falling. Guaranteed to catch a few.
Be prepared for chiggers. Have never had any issues through several trips in past years but just got back from 3 days at holly beach yesterday and I'm ate up like crazy.

cure for no-seeums

Mix this up and you'll not feel a one:

1 cup Listerine
1 cup Witch hazel
12 drops of tea tree oil

Mix it all up and put in a spray bottle.

It works.

Is that for after the bites or preventing them

draw a HOT bath add 2 cups bleach mix and get in and soak till water is cold. kills chiggers and you wont feel the bites anymore

For repelling? OR for treating the bites afterwords ??

It's a repellant
